I like Star Citizen, I am fascinated by the open world possibilities. However CIG has been dropping the ball a bit too much recently. Because 30% of all playable interiors are the same level, copied.

In 2017, they released the planet Hurston, along with its landing zone lorville and the „bunker mission“.

This bunker mission, from its appearance appears to be an industrial underground location and its purpose hints at some type of pipeline station for oil or natural gas. The signing in the location references „biohazards“, coolant systems, and the interior's most prominent feature is a large pipe in the center.

So far so good, the game has a combat area that is themed t ofit into the industrial Lorville tileset.

So when Citcon 2019 appeared, they showed off new areas for combat, some type of laboratory or server farm. However that location has until now (December 2021) not appeared in the game.

Instead, they copied the Hurston pipe tunnel location all over the Stanton system.

I have counted all locations with interiors.

There are 74 outposts, 42 pipe tunnels, 4 salvage yards, 4 unique locations, 12 space stations, which totals at 136 locations with interiors.

I left out the landing zones (5 locations), and comms satellites, because comms satellites make sense to be identical in appearance.

So that means there are 30.9% of all locations with interiors are the same copypasted pipe tunnel location. Not a variation of the same location type, the exact same thing. Each pipe tunnel location is an identical copy of the other, with all the objects being in the same place.

And CIG appeared to wanted to dress it up in the descriptions. Like some of them are called „security posts, or „data centers“. However they are all the same pipe tunnels. There are no security posts with giant pipes in reality.

And it gets worse unfortunately. When you grind the package delivery missions to level 2, guess where you are collecting packages from? The pipe tunnels.
And when they added the new magic elevators to realistically spawn in extra AI in combat situations, where did they put that? In the pipe tunnels.

Instead of having actual data centers shown off in 2019 for Microtech, or perhaps apartment buildings on Arccorp. The only reason the pipe tunnels are not on Crusader is because it is a gas giant without terrain. And it is not on Arccorp because the entire planet is covered in procedural city. All other moons with terrain get the same pipe tunnel copy paste. And that i think is not worthy of the game that pulled in 420$ million dollars.

if a game is this well-financed, why is 30% of all the playable interiors the same level copied? It should not be like that. CIG has the money and the experienced developers for more quality and quantity in locations. 30% of interior locations in Star Citizen are identical copies
