Why is Tyr an Important Character? - God of War: Ragnarok Theory

We all know the Norse mythology story of Tyr sacrificing his own arm in order to help the Aesir bind Fenrir the wolf. While Tyr's right arm is intact, fans speculate his arms will be bitten off in God of War: Ragnarok. However, Tyr's role seems to diminish after this. Are there any other roles he will play?
