Optimising plant establishment, crop densities & row spacings to maximise yield -Ashley Amourgis SFS

This GRDC project, now in its third year, is looking at optimising seed placement, plant establishment, plant densities and row spacings to maximise crop yield. As a part of this Southern Farming Systems are undertaking paddock scale trials in both canola and faba beans. The trials in 2020 are comparing a conventional seeder, a Vaderstad Rapid, vs a precision seeder, a Vaderstad Tempo at two sowing rates. Thanks to CLAAS Harvest Centre Swayn & McCabe and Landpower for their support in this project through providing the machinery and technical support at sowing.
